Check out our Greene County Courthouse field trip: Teresa Grantham explains parts of the courtroom, advises our "criminal defense" team during a mock trial, and explains the jury selection process. We also spoke with a court reporter and a bailiff. Students experienced a lively mock trial in Judge Peggy Davis' courtroom, and in the Sheriff's office we got an overview of safety precautions and behind-the-scenes security procedures at the courthouse. Also, Mrs. Caron reads to the class and tells us about action she took at a Kenyan medical clinic!
Check out our first garden work day as we work together to weed beds and prepare soil. Also, here we are working in groups to think about what we know about Rules, Laws, Government Documents, Citizenship, Responsibilities, and Children's Rights; playing The Factor Game; and, making water conservation/protection Action Posters for our Kindergarten Buddies. Note that State Rep. Kevin Austin came to Field to tell kids about his job, how/why he got into politics, and his duties in Springfield and Jefferson City. In addition, the kids are proud of Field's new "Little Free Library" book exchange on the northwest lawn!

Here, we are thinking about: mathematical landmarks and organizing data, wastewater management with Erica Cox, sorting words, solving a water mystery, investigating surface runoff with Rob Hunt, having fun with our water filter museum, building aquifers with Beth Bowles, and working on our multiplication investigation!
We are having fun investigating the properties of water, thinking about conserving and protecting water, and discussing water scarcity. We also are learning how to work together in groups, and we are using our writing to build community!
